I’ve been getting kind of lazy with my blogging lately. I don’t update, I don’t read and comment on other blogs that much anymore. I tend to sort of go through phases where I’m really into it, and then I just sort of quit for a while and go back to it later. When I started this particular blog, I swore to myself that I would keep it updated consistently, unlike past projects. Well, I guess I lied to myself. But I’m back now, and at least it’s only been a few days, as opposed to a couple months, like I waited after my very first post when I started this blog. I’m going to try to be better about it, at least for a while (hey, I’m realistic, I know I’ll end up taking a little break again sooner or later).
My mom’s little bichon has been driving me a little nuts. Well, her and our cocker spaniel, Gilligan. It’s not like this is anything new, but geez, how difficult is it to get a dog fully potty trained? These guys are lost causes now, I think. Sammy is 6 and Gilligan is 12, so I think they’re pretty set in their ways at this point. It just gets old having to clean up after them all the time. ![]()
Today was my brother’s birthday. His wife is in town on business, so he has to spend it alone, which sucks. But the birthday gift I bought for him arrived today, wrapped and everything, which is great! Perfect timing, although I’m a bit disappointed that I paid $4 to have it wrapped before they sent it out to him, and he said their wrapping job was not impressive. But he still got the thrill of being surprised and getting to rip the paper off! The gift was the Simpsons movie with a t-shirt, in case anyone was wondering for some reason. ![]()
Today was my mom’s birthday. I know exactly when her birthday is, however, I hadn’t been keeping track of the calendar and what the actual date was, so I was kind of surprised when I looked at the calendar late last night and thought, “Oh crap!” Luckily, there is a Rite Aid on the way from the bus stop to the campus, so I stopped in and got her a card from the cats, a card from me and Zack, and a $25 gift card for JCPenney, whose sales she has been raving about lately anyway. She seemed happy with everything, but maybe a bit surprised? What? Like I could forget her birthday!
Today was the one day a week that I have to spend at CSUN (my other 2 classes are online). I might not hate going there as much if I lived closer or possibly if I drove there - but I have a phobia of driving on the freeway. I’ve only done it twice: the first time, I got yelled at by my parents because apparently I was about to get in a wreck and didn’t know it. The second time, I tried to change lanes, didn’t notice someone in my blind spot, figured out that they were there, and tried to get back into the lane I was in…I say “tried” because I lost control and ended up in a ditch on the side of the road. I’m not that bad a driver in town, I swear! I think I just start out too nervous and freaked out before I even get on the freeway because I’m so scared. I know it’s dumb and irrational, but I can’t seem to overcome it. I need to try, I know.
So anyway, since I don’t drive on the freeway, I take the bus to school. The last bus leaves here at 6:20. The first bus leaves CSUN after 3. So, I have to get up at 5 to make it to the bus stop, and since (this semester anyway) my class starts at 2:00, I end up getting home around 6. I don’t know about you, but for me that is one heck of a long day. Last semester, I did this 4 days a week, although I sometimes got home as early as 4:30! Awesome!
One good thing happened at school today, which is, I got 8/10 on the quiz we took last week! I know it’s only a B and thus not very impressive, but I’m really happy with it because I thought that I completely bombed it, and it’s worth 20% of our overall grade! There are only 2 other tests in the class, and that’s it. So, if you don’t do well on something, it kind of screws you. My Environmental Health class is set up kind of like that too: there are only 3 things graded. Speaking of which, I need to finish up some reading and take the online test. I’ve got my midterm in Physics of Music due this week, too, so I need to get crackin’.
