So, for one of my assignments, I have to make my predictions on what shows will succeed and which will be prematurely cancelled, focusing on the ABC network. (Yes, this is an actual college assignment!) Looking up the schedule, I found a new game show called Opportunity Knocks, hosted by J.D. Roth. I was like, damn that name sounds familiar. So I looked up good ol’ J.D. on the IMDB. OMG, he was the host of GamePro! I know a lot of my readers are far too young to remember this show…hell, I think a lot of you weren’t even born yet! Way to make me feel old, guys! :D Anyway, my brother and I used to watch this show when we were kids. I immediately put Opportunity Knocks on my cancelled list, because, um..J.D. Roth! Just look at this!

And no, I don’t expect any of you to actually watch the whole thing.

I know I’ve talked before about my love of video games. But sometimes I just don’t feel like getting out the console or Zack is watching TV or he is using the console, etc. So sometimes, I like to Play Free Games online. Because free is much better than, say, buying a game, and then paying even more for a subscription to allow you to actually play the game, which really makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Anyway…on the topic of free games, it’s always nice to be able to Play Arcade Games without throwing away a bunch of quarters (I like to save those for vending machine sodas and those rigged claw machines with the stuffed animals you can’t win). I don’t really like to Play Action Games as much as, say, RPGs, but in every genre, I find something that’s really addictive and fun or, in some cases, just so twisted and bizarre that they can keep my interest. Take Los Simpsons for example. I’ve just discovered this, but it’s so weird and messed up that I can’t stop playing it.

I think I may have found a way to play my Kyrandia games!  Yes!!!

This makes me so happy.  I know I was just talking about video game obsession recently, too.
But seriously, the Legend of Kyrandia series are some of my favorite games of all time.  For the unfamiliar, they are older computer games of the point-and-click adventure variety.  And they rule.

Zack’s sudden and growing obsession with Final Fantasy is somewhat amusing. He’s basically talking to himself, and I have no clue precisely what’s going on in his game because I’m not exactly sitting there watching him intently. So I just say uhuh, yeah, mmhmm, ok… But I am exactly like him when I play Star Ocean. Exactly.

It’s kind of funny, I own 4 different gaming consoles, and sometimes I don’t even play any games for months. Then I go through these little phases where I get really into a particular game. Right now it’s Okage: Shadow King, which I played last night for hours. Now I want to play MORE. More!! I’ve still never finished Star Ocean 2 or Star Ocean: Til The End of Time because I’ve been too into Soul Calibur 3 and Shadow King. That’s the really lame thing about going through these little phases: I never actually beat a game because I’ve already moved on to something else! I need to go get on the treadmill or something, but I think I’d rather turn on the PS2…

I didn’t realize it was so late. I’ve been playing Soul Calibur III, and I’m getting extremely mad at this game. I know it’s not supposed to be easy, but it’s just ridiculous when you can’t seem to block anything, but your opponent can block almost everything. I’m playing as Zasalamel, and fighting versus myself right now. I probably would have ended up missing posting today altogether, but I needed a little break from this frustration. Playing versus the same character you’re playing sucks when you don’t really know how to do their special moves, and that’s all they do. Maybe I should go back to playing Star Ocean 2 (my all-time favorite video game), but now I’m so mad at this game that I just want to keep playing until I manage to beat this guy.
