I hope everyone had a great X-Mas. I know I did!

My brother and his wife are visiting us for the holidays. On Sunday, they rented a limo to take us (me, Zack, Mom, Dad, and Grandma) to Santa Monica. We had lots of booze for the ride and ate at I Cugini when we got there. After dinner, we went to the pier and rode the ferris wheel, which was far faster than I thought they were supposed to go, and freaked me out a little bit because I’m somewhat afraid of heights.

X-Mas was awesome, and I’m going to have to start taking 5 showers a day to use up all the yummy smelling bath products I got. I also got an Ipod thingee so I can play it in the car, and, well, a whole bunch of other stuff! Everyone got games for X-Mas, and before that we were playing a lot of Pass the Pigs. Now we need to check out Simpsons Sorry, Monopoly Here and Now, 24 the DVD board game…and I really want to play Imaginiff again!

So, Happy Holidays, everyone! We’ve got New Year’s coming up soon!

And now I leave you with the song that has been in my head the last three days and is driving me nuts:

I finally got my (actual) grade for Physics of Music. I am so happy right now, but my day did not start off this way!

Last night, I checked my school e-mail and my Physics of Music professor had sent out a message stating that he had graded all the final projects and grades were posted online. I checked, and there was no grade. So, I was biting my nails, stressing out and waiting for the grade to actually be available for me to view. This class was so much work, and such a pain, and I was just hoping for a “C” so that I could get credit for it and never have to take any more general education classes.

This morning, I checked for my grades again, and they were actually there. But something was very, very wrong. Next to Physics of Music, and Physics of Music Lab, it said “WU”. Say what?! A “WU” is an unauthorized withdrawal. It basically means you never went to class and never did any of the assignments, but didn’t bother to actually drop the class. It counts as a 0 in your GPA, just like an “F”. Basically, it is worse than an “F” because it means you didn’t even put in enough effort to get an “F”!  Aack!

I knew this was not right, because I attended every single chat session (this was an online course, so that is the “going to class” portion), turned in all of the labs (with grades of 8/10 on most of them), got a “B” on the midterm, and turned in the final project. I put a ridiculous amount of work into this course. One day, I spent 7 and a half hours straight working on one of the labs, and I still didn’t get it finished. I had to go back and work on it more later and turned it in late. So when I saw “WU”, I was so, so mad. The only thing that I could think of was that either he goofed entering grades or that maybe, for some reason, he didn’t get the e-mail with my final project attached. I e-mailed the professor to find out what was up. I still stressed about this all day long. I was anticipating him taking forever to get back to me, because a.) none of my other professors ever reply to e-mails and b.) it’s the holiday season and school is not in session now.

I was very pleasantly surprised when he actually replied to me earlier tonight. Apparently, he got my project, but just overlooked it or something. I got 25/25 on the project and a “B+” in the class! Hurray! But now he has to submit a change of grade, so the WU is what stays on my record for the moment. It will be changed though, and I did better than I anticipated, so now, I am very, very happy and relieved. I can’t believe he just overlooked my e-mail and gave me a crappy grade though! But it’s all good now, and I can just kick back and relax for a month before I have to go back to school. Hurray!

The semester is finally over! Yay! I’m still waiting on my grade for Physics of Music (which is the class I was most concerned about.) I got an A in Global Environmental Health and an A- in History of Broadcasting (which is slightly better than what I expected, but then, I hounded the professor for a month for my midterm grade and still never found out what it was. Apparently it was good.) I decided to just finish my degree at CSUN, which will hopefully only take another year. I hate going there, but I think being practically guaranteed a job after graduation outweighs the frustration and inconvenience of going to a school that I despise.

I have always been a little…hair-obsessed.  I cut all my hair off about 10 years ago, and I’ve been trying to grow it back since then.  For a while, I would get it so long, and then get frustrated and cut it.  The last few years, I’ve managed to actually grow it and resist the urge to cut it, so now I’ve got a few inches to go before I get it back to my waist.  The thing is, when I was a kid/teenager with long hair, it was always in really good condition.  Now…not so much.  The very bottom is pretty old by now, and was dyed, then bleached, then dyed again.  The last few inches tend to get kind of frizzy and straw-like, but I don’t want to cut them off because I’m trying to grow my hair out.  So I usually use salon products on it, but a while back, I sent off for some samples of Sunsilk.  After using the Hydra TLC shampoo, conditioner, and 24/7 creme, my hair actually felt like hair again.  I ended up buying a bottle of the Hydra TLC 24/7 creme, and whenever I use it, my hair feels great.  Truly, this is one product I can vouch for that actually works as well as, if not better than, the stuff I’d been buying from the salon.  Two thumbs up to Sunsilk for making my hair feel great, and being way more affordable.

My MacBook Pro is tripping right now. It does this a lot lately, actually. It is just so loud for no apparent reason, it is driving me insane! Earlier, it just kept getting louder and louder, and I finally turned it off. I started it back up a couple hours later, and now it’s doing the same thing. I’m only running Safari and Mail. I don’t get it. I’ve been Googling to try to find a solution. The battery life is also not what it used to be. I got this computer in September, for over $2,000. That’s a lot of money to me, and this thing will be obsolete and/or dead well before it’s actually paid for, because that was loan money. This is dumb.

So, I obviously lost NaBloPoMo.  Lost HARD.  Anyway, I haven’t posted lately, as I’ve been busy with school and whatnot.

I’m not really sure what I’m doing about school next semester.  I applied to transfer to CSUB AV, as it’s about 5 minutes from my house, whereas CSUN is like an hour and fifteen minute bus ride each way, and I have to get up at 5 for a 2 pm class.  Anyway, CSUB wants me to take more general ed and have a minor, so it’s 5 extra classes, and I wouldn’t have as many classes in my actual major.  It would save me a lot of travel and aggravation though.   I’m thinking about sticking with CSUN though, due to the reasons just listed, plus there’s a very good chance of getting a job right out of school, because a lot of major media corporations have connections with CSUN and recruit recent grads.  I spoke to an advisor, who talked me into declaring the Electronic Media Management option (I had to pick something, because I couldn’t register for any more classes until I switched from Pre-CTVA to an actual option.)  So if I finish up my degree there, I have a great chance of getting a steady job with benefits, doing media research or something.
